     Here's what your Grandkids
                  are listening to!

Picture
I have two "Pop" songs and a bit of Country Music. Personally I like Country music best these days.

Charlie Puth is first on the docket.  Charlie gained popularity on YouTube.  If you like todays song you'll love Wiz Khalifa's single "See You Again" in which Charlie Puth stole the show !

"Let's Marvin Gaye and Get It On"
Currently #1 in the UK and #25  In the US . . .
and on it's way to the top.

"Hold Back The River"  James Bay - Currently #6 in the US.
James Michael Bay is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. Bay's single, "Hold Back the River", peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart.  In total, 'Hold Back The River' spent 25 weeks in the chart, it was last seen in the top 40 on Tuesday 22nd September 2015.

How popular are you when, in a crowd this size, everyone knows                                   the words to your song?
James Bay live at T in the Park 2015.
This song . . . Just released . . . I'm betting it will be a top twenty song by the end of the year!

"Lose My Mind" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Brett Eldredge. It was released on May 4, 2015 as the first single from Eldredge's upcoming second album, "Illinois".
Chris Janson - Last week #3 on the Top Country songs has a point .               "Money can't buy happiness"  but . . . . It can
                                   "Buy Me A Boat"

Happy Anniversary Turntable!

The first Turntable was released on September 23, 2013.  We now have 2 years in archives and we're still pumpin em out (Turntables that is).  Take a moment and click on "September 2013" archive.  Scroll down to the first Turntable (Sept 23) and watch it!  A little corny but with all the unpleasantness going on in the world  . . . it's rather refreshing!

Travlin' Music

"The All American Boy" is a 1958 talking Blues song written and sung by Bobby Bare, but credited by Fraternity Records to Bill Parsons, with songwriting credit to Bill Parsons and Orville Lunsford.  While Bare was in the army, Parsons lip synced the record on TV. The song reached #2 on the Billboard Charts and #22 on British charts.
"Just Between You And me" - The Chordettes reached #8 on the US R&B charts in 1957.  The group organized in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in 1946. The original members of the group were Janet Ertel, Carol Buschmann (her sister-in-law), Dorothy Schwartz, and Jinny Osborn/Lockard.

In 1957 we were just 14 years old . .  anybody remember saying "I love you" to a "Freshmen Counterpart"  Not me!  No Sir . . . not me.
I think . . .
Tommy Edwards was a singer and songwriter. His biggest-selling record was the multi-million-selling song "It's All In the Game" which, in 1958,  reached #1 in both US and UK Charts.

In 1959 "Please Mr Sun" reached #11 on the US Charts and #18 on the US R&B Charts.  Not quite the same level of popularity as "All in the Game" but a wonderful song nonetheless.  Do you remember?

Travlin' Music

"Little Bitty Pretty One" is a rock and roll song written and originally recorded by Bobby Day, and popularized by Thurston Harris in 1957. Produced by Aladdin Records (located in Los Angeles, CA), and featuring The Sharps on backing vocals. Harris' version reached No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Best-Sellers chart and No. 2 on the R&B chart.  wiki
"A Thousand Miles Away" is a 1957 song recorded by the American doo-wop group "The Heartbeats". The song reached #5 on the R&B Singles chart and #52 in the US on The Billboard Hot 100.  The song was written by James Sheppard  and William H. Miller. Sheppard wrote the song after his ex-girlfriend moved away to Texas.  wiki
"Wolverton Mountain" was a hit that established Claude King's career as an American country  singer/songwriter in 1962. The song was a rewrite of the original version by Merle Kilgore,  which was based on a real character named Clifton Clowers who lived on the mountain (the mountain's actual name being spelled Woolverton), north of Morrilton, Arkansas. The song spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Country Chart in the US in 1962.  It was also a giant crossover hit, reaching number six on the pop chart  and number three on the easy listening chart.
Buddy Wayne Knox (July 20, 1933 - February 14, 1999) was an American singer and songwriter, best known for his 1957 rock hit song, "Party Doll".  In 1957 "rock Your Little Baby to Sleep" reached #17 on the US rock & roll charts. wiki

         Barbara (Radandt) Heimann
                                     &
                        Dale Sievert

Barb and Dale, this song welcomes you back. Originally written for a "teacher" named Kotter, now applies to students of LHS class of 60. Classmates and friends, once separated, and now returned. There is no other song that expresses our feelings as well.

We continue with "Travelin Songs"

Joe Barry from Cutoff, Louisiana, a Fats Domino sound alike, released "I'm a fool to care" sometime in 1960. The tune hit #15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and #24 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It sold over one million copies by 1968, earning a gold record  designation.  wiki

Don't remember hearing this song back in 1960.  Joe Barry sounds like Fats Domino don't you think?   The song made an impression on me, so here it is!
We all remember the Kalin Twins Right???  Me neither!  But I do remember the song "When".  You probably do too!

The Kalin Twins (born February 16, 1934) were a pop music recording duo, comprising twin brothers Hal and Herbie Kalin. The Kalin Twins remain the archetypal one-hit wonders. Their only Top 10 chart hit was "When"  wiki
The Fleetwoods!  Big hits . .  "Come Softly to Me" . .  "Mr. Blue" . .  "Tragedy" . . We all know those songs.  Here's one we may have overlooked.  "You Mean Everything To Me".  Released in 1959 it reached number 84 on the US Hot 100 songs.  Seems to me this song should have done better!  What do you think?
Dreamy stuff  . . . .
