Happy Anniversary Turntable!

The first Turntable was released on September 23, 2013.  We now have 2 years in archives and we're still pumpin em out (Turntables that is).  Take a moment and click on "September 2013" archive.  Scroll down to the first Turntable (Sept 23) and watch it!  A little corny but with all the unpleasantness going on in the world  . . . it's rather refreshing!

Travlin' Music

"The All American Boy" is a 1958 talking Blues song written and sung by Bobby Bare, but credited by Fraternity Records to Bill Parsons, with songwriting credit to Bill Parsons and Orville Lunsford.  While Bare was in the army, Parsons lip synced the record on TV. The song reached #2 on the Billboard Charts and #22 on British charts.
"Just Between You And me" - The Chordettes reached #8 on the US R&B charts in 1957.  The group organized in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in 1946. The original members of the group were Janet Ertel, Carol Buschmann (her sister-in-law), Dorothy Schwartz, and Jinny Osborn/Lockard.

In 1957 we were just 14 years old . .  anybody remember saying "I love you" to a "Freshmen Counterpart"  Not me!  No Sir . . . not me.
I think . . .
Tommy Edwards was a singer and songwriter. His biggest-selling record was the multi-million-selling song "It's All In the Game" which, in 1958,  reached #1 in both US and UK Charts.

In 1959 "Please Mr Sun" reached #11 on the US Charts and #18 on the US R&B Charts.  Not quite the same level of popularity as "All in the Game" but a wonderful song nonetheless.  Do you remember?
Till Next Week

Nice, Harv, these tunes are from the '50s that I can remember. Really refreshing when you compare them to all the loud junk that came later. We really didn't appreciate how good we had it, eh? Thanks.

Very nice setup Jerry! Next week the Turntable will feature "Here's what your Grandkids are listening to" Yup! That really "Loud Junk" you are referring to. You would make a GREAT PARENT! Our parents thought "the 50's tunes" were just "Loud Junk" too! . . . just sayin!
