BUT OUR GROUP KNOWS BETTER RIGHT?? The 4th of July celebrations can be a lot of fun. Especially for the kids who just want to hear loud noises and watch stuff explode in the air. Grilling burgers and brats on the weber and having fun with the family is always the greatest. For many though it means inadvertantly over indulging a bit and suffering the consequences. I'm certain that none of us is among that group! Am I right??? Huh? Turntable - Fats Domino . . . The flipSide - James Taylor . . . Harv thecoachmensclubhouse.com ![]() Antoine "Fats" Domino Jr. (February 26, 1928 – October 24, 2017) was an American pianist and singer-songwriter. One of the pioneers of rock and roll music, Domino sold more than 65 million records.[2] Between 1955 and 1960, he had eleven Top 10 hits.[3] His humility and shyness may be one reason his contribution to the genre has been overlooked.[4] During his career, Domino had 35 records in the U.S. Billboard Top 40, and five of his pre-1955 records sold more than a million copies, being certified gold.[5] His musical style was based on traditional rhythm and blues, accompanied by saxophones, bass, piano, electric guitar, and drums.[5] His 1949 release "The Fat Man" is widely regarded as the first million-selling Rock 'n Roll record. One of his most famous songs is “Blueberry Hill”.
Wow! A bunch of 90+ degree days in a row! An entire summers heat in 3 days. Probably a bit early to start complaining about a HOT summer though. Summer is only about a week old. I guess we need to quit complaining and be happy with the warm weather we get. After all . . . days are already getting shorter! Turntable - Ricky Nelson . . . The flipSide - Marvin Gaye . . . Harv thecoachmensclubhouse.com Eric Hilliard Nelson (May 8, 1940 – December 31, 1985) was an American rock and roll star, musician, and singer-songwriter. From age eight he starred alongside his family in the radio and television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. In 1957 he began a long and successful career as a popular recording artist. As one of the top "teen idols" of the 1950s his fame led to a motion picture role co-starring alongside John Wayne and Dean Martin in Howard Hawks's western feature film Rio Bravo (1959). He placed 53 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, and its predecessors, between 1957 and 1973, including "Poor Little Fool" in 1958, which was the first #1 song on Billboard magazine's then-newly created Hot 100 chart. He recorded 19 additional Top 10 hits and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on January 21, 1987.[1][2] In 1996 Nelson was ranked #49 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time.[3] Nelson began his entertainment career in 1949 playing himself in the radio sitcom series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. In 1952, he appeared in his first feature film, Here Come the Nelsons. In 1957, he recorded his first single, debuted as a singer on the television version of the sitcom, and released the #1 album titled Ricky. In 1958, Nelson released his first #1 single, "Poor Little Fool", and in 1959 received a Golden Globe nomination for "Most Promising Male Newcomer" after starring in Rio Bravo. A few films followed, and when the television series was cancelled in 1966, Nelson made occasional appearances as a guest star on various television programs. Nelson and Sharon Kristin Harmon were married on April 20, 1963, and divorced in December 1982. They had four children: Tracy Kristine, twin sons Gunnar Eric and Matthew Gray, and Sam Hilliard.
