HI EVERYBODY AND
WELCOME TO
2020!

REFLECTIONS
Picture
A shiny new year just ahead of us and a dusty old one in the rear view mirror. Don't know about you but I usually take a little time to reflect.

They say hindsight is 20/20 but that's only true if you take time to look back.
I could take you through the litany of things that happened to us in 2019 but
I'm sure you would be bored to death.

One interesting thing did happen in the fall though . . . we ordered a 20yd
dumpster to get rid of excess junk in the garage and around the house.
When it arrived we said " that thing is BIG! . . . what will the neighbors
think!"  I found the neighbors could care less about what we were doing . . .
but were VERY interested in whether we'd have enough room for  "THEIR JUNK"!

I also discovered "why" it's so hard to de-clutter the house.  It's because
you place all your "bad decisions" on display as you haul stuff out to the
dumpster. . .  Like the wine cooler I bought a couple of years ago which never
got used.  Oh, and the solid oak poker table covered with beautiful red felt I bought ($500) so we could play cards in the rec room . . .  Never used it . . . not even once!  OK! - we don't play cards.  Bad decision!

And the Chrome Italian ice cream maker.  Paid over $300 and used it once.
Problem was it only made 1 pint of ice cream at a time.  Gave that to Goodwill
. . . I'm sure by now someone is regretting the $10 "they" spent for it and
are wondering how to get rid of it.  Oh, there's more but I think you get the
picture.  Yup, we filled the dumpster.

2019 in all, was a good year.  Traveled a little, did a bit of remodeling and our
health is holding nicely.  What more could you ask for?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Still Believe?
Picture
I do! . . . As a kid I can remember it was the only "safe" thing to do! The late 40's were really magical Christmases.
I remember when I was about 5 or 6 years old wanting a hobby horse that would actually move when you rode it.  It would go well with the cowboy hat, chaps and matching silver pistols I was hoping to get for christmas.  Well, the chaps, hat and pistols all showed up under the tree (as well as cowboy boots) but the horse was nowhere to be found.  I guess Sanda didn't have room for it in his sleigh.  Still, I was ecstatic with my loot!!!

Today you couldn't get any 6 year old excited about that stuff.  In fact today it would even be considered innappropriate . . . considering who we were going to shoot with those six guns!  Alas, those are long gone.  Today a 6 year old gets an iPad and is nowhere to be seen for the rest of the holidays.  Go figure!

HOWDY EVERYONE!

What?
Picture
This "puzzle" will not easly be solved!

Speaking of "above freezing" we haven't seen the thermometer slide above 32 for about 4 to 5 weeks.  Snow hit us just before Thanksgiving and has been accumulating ever since.  For some dumb reason I expected this to happen (global warming and all), so I had both our snowblowers (Toro single stage and the "big daddy"  Honda three stage 7.5hp) tuned up in early November.  So far I've used the Toro about 6 times.  I used the Honda once . . . first time in about 8 years!  I also traded our VW van for a Subaru Outback fulltime all wheel drive.  It's done a good job keeping me out of the ditch.

I doubt I'll see any watery puddles soon.  If I do they will be suspect for sure!

Oh Yeah!  Today! . . .  in Gulliver's Travels!   A trip to The Caucasus!  Don't miss it!!!

Good Morning!

Picture

On Saturday (7th) Joan & I hosted our 21st annual neighborhood Christmas Party. We're bushed!!!   Takes us a week to get ready for a 6 hour party.  Sometimes, (like this party), guests linger till after midnight.  Always fun though!  360 days is just enough time to forget how hard it was to organize and then we do it all over again.  Christmas Holidays are all about good times with friends and family. I wish EVERYONE could come to our party!

Good Morning!!!

OK! It's only November so a little early for that!
Picture
First snow storm of the year dumped 9.5 inches here on 11/27

Still, we had a great Thanksgiving!  Think about this . . . without snow how would you get "over the river and through the woods" to Grandma's house?  Ok!  Ok!  a Ford F150 would probably get the job done . . .  just wouldn't be the same.

Forecasting rain, sleet and much more snow this week.  YUP it looks like Christmas is just around the corner!!!
                                (good weather for Santa's sleigh)
