(Dick and I attended the Dance at St. Pauls Church in south Manitowoc.  We met Lovey Barbier and Karen Reibetanz.  After the dance the girls agreed to hang out with us for the evening. We left Manitowoc and went to Two Rivers for fish at the M&M Restaurant.  We are now leaving the M&M.  It's still early (10:20PM)   The girls have agreed to stay with us . . on the condition that we get them home by midnight.  We decided to go to Neshotah park and walk the beach. . . It's getting dark)

(Driving out of the parking lot of the M&M Restaurant)     Lovey -"Boy Karen, I'm glad we split that fish dinner!  That was a lot of food!"  Karen - "Maybe we'll get to do it again.  Look . .  we're passing the Two Rivers Bandstand on the left.  I think the Comets are playing there next week Friday!" Dick - "Karen, would you like to go with me?"  Karen - "Sure!  I'd love to!"  Me - "Lovey, would you like to go?"  Lovey - "Sorry, I can't, I'll be out of town next week on vacation with the family."  Karen - "Look, there's the Custard Stand.  Lot's of people there tonight!"  Me - "I always get vanilla cones . . . easier to get out of your clothes!  Dick -  I think we drive straight until the dead end and then turn right following the beach right? " Me - "Right.  The Neshotah Pavilion will be on the right side of the road.  Oh! there it is."  Karen - "I've been here lots of times and I can tell you, it's a great summer place!  The Pavillon serves hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and pop!  My favorite is the cheese curds made fresh every day. They're terrific!" Lovey - "Cheese curds are my favorite too! I remember standing in the cold lake water eating those hot cheese curds . . . YUM!"  Me - "I can't wait till they start serving beer!  Hey Dick, keep going straight until the last parking area on the left.  There it is.  Pull in and park over there facing the lake.  Did you bring your portable radio?"  Dick - "It's in the trunk.  I'll get it." Me - "OK why don't we all go barefoot on the beach!"  Lovey - "Wow!  It must have been really hot today, the sand is still super warm." Dick - Hey Harv!  THIS . . . my friend . . .  is a great little radio.  It has terrific sound!   I've been able to get Milwaukee stations from here."  (Dick is now tuning the radio) "Well this is new!  Ever heard of WTLZ Radio??  It's super clear reception!  I wonder where it's coming from.  Hey! this is a great song!"  Me - "Lovey!, do you want to dance?"  Lovey - "OK!"
Karen - "It would appear that dancing in the sand is not as easy as it looks in the movies!"   Dick - "Hey Karen! . .  I only fell one time!"  Me - "Dick, your problem is that Karen is dancing "fast" and you're
dancing "half fast"!  Lovey - "should we build a bonfire?" Me - "It would be fun but I don't think there's enough time.  Why don't we just walk the beach to the pier?" Lovey - "OK.  Guys! don't forget to bring the radio!"  Dick - "Karen, Check out the moon's reflection in the water!  It's like a perfect golden walkway pointing directly from the other side of the lake us to, and it keeps following us!"  Karen - "Let's see if we can "run" on it!"  (Karen runs to the water splashing till she's just over ankle deep)  HOLY CRAP! this water isFREEZING COLD!!!" Dick - "I guess that rules out swimming in the buff??" Karen - Well, I don't know about you, but "I" look pretty good in the buff!  What I am curious about is how you will look when I push you off that pier with all your clothes on!"  Dick - "Oh My that would be tragic!"  Karen - "Or it might be  . . .  - Oh listen to this song - Tragedy! It's a great song!  Hey Dick,  let's try dancing on the sand closer to the water.  It's a harder surface and It'll be easier for you.  Maybe you won't fall down as much! . . Oh! . . and do try to keep up!  (We all dance)
Me - "Well here's the pier.  Didn't really use up much time.  How about we walk out to the Lighthouse?  It's really neat out there."  (Everyone agrees.)  Dick - "This walking on the pier stuff is kind of cool.  I've never done this before.  Of course I've never lived in Manitowoc before either."  Karen - "You know what's really a fun thing to do?  You get halfway to the Lighthouse and then you jump off the pier with all your clothes on and swim back to the shore!!"  Dick - "Still a little miffed at my "buff" comment huh?  Sorry!" Karen  "Just kidding! " Lovey - "Look you can see the lights in Manitowoc, and I think you can see the lights in Sheboygan too!"  Me - "Cool!  I guess it's because Two Rivers is stuck so far out into the lake."  Karen -  "There's the turn on the pier - we have to be careful.  It's not easy negotiating around that steel gantry."  Lovey - "falling off here would be a real problem.   It's a long way back to the beach."  Dick - "Oh I don't know . . ask Karen! She's probably been tossed in here plenty of times."  Karen - "Keep it up Dick'o and YOU will see just how cold this water is!".  Me - "Let's walk around to the other side of the lighthouse so we can sit on the lakeside.  Really a neat view from there."  Lovey - "Look! back on the beach!  Someone is building a bonfire!"  Dick - "Maybe they can stay out till 1:00AM!  I'm really loving this lighthouse! I wonder how many shipwrecks it's helped avoid?   Too bad it's not foggy.  We could hear how this little puppy sounds!"  Everyone -  "WHAT?  DICK! ARE YOU CRAZY???"  Karen - "One blast from this lighthouse and we would tossed right off the pier.  It's about as loud as anything I have ever heard!  You can hear it from miles away!"  Karen - "Ever hear that song "Sea Cruise?"  It has a horn that . . .  What the heck!  Turn that up!"
(And now we are all sitting on the lake side of the Lighthouse looking out on the perfectly still water of Lake Michigan.  The moon is full and polishing the water, no wind, very comfortable temperature (unusual for where we're sitting).  Everyone is taking in the scene. We see two Car Ferry's out on the horizon, one heading into Manitowoc and the other having just left.)

Me - "Really nice out here tonight.  So calm and clear.  Make's you think you could solve all the problems in the universe!"  Lovey - "Strange, but I've been thinking about a book I recently read.  The Search for Bridey Murphy - have you ever read it?"  Me - "I did.  It's about a guy who becomes infatuated with hypnotism.  He hypnotizes his wife and takes her ever further back into her childhood until she starts talking with an Irish brogue.  She is no longer herself but now is a person living in Ireland in the 18th century!"  Lovey - "Right! It appears she may have been reincarnated  from a previous life!  What do you guys think?  Do you believe in reincarnation?"  Karen - "I don't know about reincarnation but I can tell you I've had a creepy feeling all night that something is wrong.  Like we're being watched.  Like we are actors in somebody's play!"  Lovey - "What makes you think that?"  Karen - "Well have you noticed that all night the songs on the radio are playing right into what we happen to be doing?  Remember when we were talking about Torr's garage and Harv said "things just happen that way" Johnny Cash sang "I guess things happen that way"  Then on Lake DriveLovey mentioned  "Old Cape cod" and then that song just happened to play?  How about just before, when we parked at the beach, I mentioned that this was a great Summer Place and guess what is on the radio?  Same thing just happened with the songs Tragedy and Sea Cruise!  I feel like this whole thing since we met you guys is being choreographed!"  Dick "What?  how is that possible?" Lovey - "I don't know but stranger things have happened.  Look at Bridey Murphy!"  Me - "Well if that is happening, and there are eyes in the sky watching us.  Who would be interested in us???  And who the heck would be doing the writing??"  Karen - "For all I know it could be one of us.  You know from sometime in the future looking back . . . planning this whole evening!" Lovey "Which of us do you suspect."  Dick -"Well Karen is the one with the literary talent to do this.  It's probably her!"  Karen.  (at the top of her lungs) "S H I T!!!!!"  Dick - "Karen, how long have you had Turrets?"  Karen - "No Dick! I'm just proving I am not the one doing this.  I would never write a script that had me saying that!"  Dick - "Man! This is really weirding me out!  Talk about 40 miles of bad road! Look!  those guys on the beach are waving their arms at us.  They're saying something . . . I think it's "We love the Music! . . .  turn it up!"  Lovey "What the heck!  How can they hear our little radio?  Say Dick, what station did you say that was?"  Dick - WTLZ!  Frankly I've never heard of it before."

(And with that, we start our trek back to the beach . . . in a single line . . . all, moving carefully,  clapping our hands and dancing to the music)

The dances organized by St. Paul's Church were really great.  They gave us a place to go and it was "approved" by our parents.  We had a good time this evening at the dance . . . the Comet's were OUTSTANDING!  Dick and I are leaving with Karen and Lovey.  Still only 9:15PM and lots to do.  We're all getting in Dicko's Merc coupe with the "green door".

Karen - "So Dick!  What IS behind the green door?"   Dick -" What?" Karen - "You know the song!  "Green Door - what's that secret you're keeping?"  Dick - "Sorry Karen I'm sworn to secrecy!  You'll have to ask Harv"  Karen - "OK, Harv, what's the story!"  Lovey - "Really!  what's the big deal?"  Me - "Well, it's not a secret at all!  You will note that the green door to which you are referring, is on the driver's side.  So "Dicko'" is"behind the green door"!!!  That's all I am inclined to divulge!"  Karen/Lovey "you guys are questionable at best!  Me"Thank you, and that is the nicest thing anyone has said about us!  Right Dick?  Dick "Oh I don't know . . .  I was called "dubious" once!  Me "Both do have a certain panache!"

Dick - "How about we take a ride over to Late's and see what's happening."  All - "Great!  let's go!"  Me - Is there a shortcut?. . . . .  What?  "Already there?   Man! I always forget how close Late's is to St. Paul's Church!  What did that ride take . .  2 minutes?"  Lovey - "Gee, looks like nobodys here!  Where did everybody go?"  Karen - "well it's still pretty early what else can we do?"  Me - "Why don't we take a ride to Two Rivers - The M&M should still be open."  Lovey - "Great!  they have the best fish dinners there!"  Karen - "I'm not really very hungry Lovey, but if you'll split with me" . .  Lovey - "Great!!!  Oh!  Turn that song up!  It's one of my favorites!"
As we drive from Late's we decide to take 8th street.  So we drive from Late's, past Lincoln, and take a right - one block to Ma's and then a left onto 8th.  The downtown never changes. As we drive, we pass the Colonial Inn on the right, then Westphal's Hardware, Schuette's on the left,  there's the Capitol Theatre on the right, then Kresge's on the left and  Oh!, theFrench Slipper Shop just across the street followed by the Savoy Restaurant and now, as we cross the river, that damp smell from the river enters the car.  It's not objectionable but you certainly start thinking seagulls, fish and boats. Now Johnson Hills appears on the left, Searson the right.  Then on the left, Bernstein's, the Karmelkorn, the Manitowoc Hotel, North End Drug, and on the right the Strand Theatre.

Me - "Hey Dick! slow down!  Everyone! - watch to the right.  I think Torr's house is the first one on the right just down that side street.  There it is!  That's where our new Coachmen Car Club will be headquartered.  Our clubhouse will be in the garage.  It's got a second floor apartment where we can hold meetings.  There is a Turntable on the main level.  You drive in, park your car on the turntable, and then turn it completely around so it's facing out when you're ready to leave.  Neat huh??" Lovey - "Why would anyone put an apartment above a garage???"  Me - "Well, maybe it's where the employees lived that took care of the horses back when there were very few cars.  Most people back then owned horses and in this case, being in the city,  the horses stayed in the garage."  Lovey -"I suppose the turntable was so the horse could be turned around to face the door after it was ridden in??"  Me - "I don't know when the turntable was installed.  Times change.  Horses are out, cars are in, changes are made to accommodate all those events.  I guess things just kind of happen that way.
Dick - "Boy it's really warm tonight!  Does anyone know what the temperature is??" Karen -"According to the bank we passed back there, its 80 degrees.  That's really hot for this time of day!"  Dick - (as we are turning right onto Waldo) "Well lets see how far we get before the windows fog up! Wo! . . . not that far !.  Can't see a darn thing!"  Karen - "Wow!  one second the windshield is perfectly clear and the  next, you need to turn the windshield wipers on to see!"  Lovey - "Happens all the time to me. Living on the Lakeshore drive all these years I've seen that happen 100's of times.  Remember what they say, "Cooler by the Lake",  which to me means, "fogged up windshield"!

Me - "Lovey, tell me, where exactly do you live?"  Lovey - We'll pass the driveway for the Lake Vue Outdoor and then I'm just next, in the white house."  Dick "Isn't there a restaurant, or bar on the lake around here?  I heard it was a really nice place with a great view of Lake Michigan"  Lovey - "Yes - It is a really nice place.  The setting is so beautiful I think it should be named Cape Cod Inn but I think it's called Lake View Bar . . really not sure.  I've been there a couple of times with my parents.  Really good food and nice surroundings. We should pass it on the right side.  Oh, gee what a coincidence!  Turn it up!"
Lovey - "OK we're passing the Outdoor and my house is there on the left.  Me - "Can you really see the theater screen from your house?"  Lovey - "Yes! and very well thank you! I've seen just about every movie worth seeing at that Outdoor.  And a few pretty crappy ones too!"  Dick - "Saves a lot of money right??"  Lovey - "Yes but my method of saving is morelegal than what you guys do . . 10 guys in the car and only 2 showing at the ticket booth??? I think you do that so you have more money for beer!"  Dick/Me simultaneously;  "Oh No! it's so we can buy more popcorn!!!" Karen - "Of course!  How could we ever think anything else!"  Lovey "You guys are full of it!"

Dick - "There's the M&M - man nothing changes in Two Rivers either!"  Me - "Looks like it's still open, let's park over there."  Karen to Lovey - "Still want to split?"   Lovey-"Yes!   Me to Dick - "I'm having fish too how about you?"  Dick - "Fish! . . . Most definitely!"

The M&M Restaurant buy their perch directly from local fishermen.  They are FRESH!  Lake Michigan provides a never ending supply of fish for the entire state . .  and then some!!! Thanks to the Holy Catholic Church, Friday nite fish fries are as common as brats and beer in the summer!

Me - In the parking lot "That was really great and really didn't take that much time!  You know it's only 10:20.  This is a rare warm night for Two Rivers.  It would be a shame to  waste it going home now.  How about we go to Neshotah Park and walk the beach?  Full moon, light breeze, and warm!   It's such a lovely night, I almost expect to see banana trees out here!. How perfect is that???"  Dick  "Sounds GREAT to me!  How about you guys . . . Karen . . . Lovey??? . . .  Me - Wow! Listen to that!  Looks like this radio station has us tuned in!"

Just in case you are missing it - School is out and Saturday is the first Day of Summer  "It's Summertime!!!"
It's summertime, school is out and tonight, a dance at St. Paul's on the south side.  Dicko' is picking me up.  Our girlfriends have already decided to go as a group.  So . . no dates tonight.

Beer???  Of course . . . if we can find someone to buy it!  Damn, it's tough being young! Maybe Oily will be there.  He always finds a way to get beer.

Mom - "John!  where are you going tonight?"  Me - "Dick Burns is picking me up in just a bit. We're going to St Paul's . . they're having a teen dance there tonight.  I'm pretty sure there will be some ministers and stuff there chaperoning".  Mom - "OK have a good time!"  Me - "Here's Dicko' . . . See ya Mom!"

Dick - "Hi Harv!  Hey, where is this dance?"  Me - "St Paul's Church.  It's on the south side somewhere off of 10th street.  We'll find it."  Dick - "Why do girls do that?"  Me - "Do what?"Dick - "You know, go to dances in groups rather than on a date?"  Me - "I think it's because dancing is for girls.  They like to dance the fast dances like jitterbug, the twist and all that newfangled stuff. Most of us don't like dancing so they can just dance with each other."   Dick - "Whatever,  Should give us an opportunity to "shop around".

Dick - "Notice how it's getting dark earlier?  Man it seems like just when summer is getting started it's ending!!!  OK! this looks like the place!  Let's park over there!  Hey! I think that Nitka's car!  Wow the windows are totally fogged up.  Let's give Nick a little surprise.  I'll pull in over there and park.   Then we can sneak up on both sides of the car, start banging on the windows and say "open up!  this is the police!  Step outside so we can search for beer!"  Me - "Sounds like a plan!" Both -at Nick's car . . .  Open up!  This is the police!  What's going on in there? are you drinking???   Nick - Rolling down the window -  What the hell???  What do you guys think you're doing?? Dick -  "we saw the windows fogged up and thought you guys might be suffocating from carbon monoxide or something.  Just trying to keep you safe!"
Nick - "BS!  next time I'm coming out there and giving you some training in "How to win friends"  This course includes some bludgeoning!"  Me - "OK! OK! . . . Ahhh . . . hey Nick . . . you sure you have no beer in there???"  Nick -" Harv!!!!~ "   Dick - "Well nothing going on here.   Let's go see what's happening on the dance floor!"  Me - "OK Dicko' lead the way!"

Dick - "Man lots of kids in here.  Who's playing tonight?"  Me - "Looks like the "Comets"  Let me see . . . The guy on the left is Jerry Leyendecker playing the sax.  They say Jerry learned to play that instrument by ear!  That's Pete Christensen playing the drums - very popular with the women! That's why Donna always shows up at the dances. Kind of keeping an eye on Pete!   Lynn Hanson on the guitar . . . .   He is also the bands lead singer.  Bill Rathman - On Base fiddle.  I don't know who the guy is singing . . . but he's good!  Dick - Hey!  that's a really good song!

Dick - "Hey Harv!  There's Mike Crowley dancing with Carrie!  and Sharon Heise dancing with Bob Ohlhues.  Oh No! Bob's with Sharon!  Well it looks like no beer tonight! There's always next week.  Look Harv, I'm going to ask Karen Reibetanz to dance.  She's really cute . . and smart! Why don't you go find someone to dance with?"

Me - "Hey Torr!  Wanna Dance??  Just kidding!  How's it going.  Did you bring a date?"  Torr - "No just shopping around."  Me - "Now Torr, by shopping, do you mean". . .  Torr - "HARV!  Shopping is Shopping!"  Me - "Well, did you bag anyone yet?"  Torr - "Westover and Ohde are here tonight and Bill wanted to show us a copy of the logo he is working on for the club.  Let's go talk to them."  Me - "Hey Westy!  have you seen Bill?"  Westy - "Yup! he's right over there  Hey Bill!  come on over lets talk.  Where's Hoffman? and Wojta?"  Torr -"There they are!  Hey guys!  come on over Ohde has an update on the logo!"  Bill - "Hi guys I have a copy of the new logo - here, what do you think?"   ALL - "Really nice Bill! " Bill - "I'm having a seamstress sew a sample on a neat blue jacket I found.  I think it will look great!"  Torr - "I think I speak for all of us Bill when I say . . . Nice Job!!"

Westy - "Hey guys, I really love this song  -  I'm going to dance with one of those pretty girls in the group over there!  See Ya!"     Bill - "There's Karen Duenkel - I'm asking her to dance!"  Me - "Hey Torr - have you seen Nitka?"  Torr - "Yes!  I think that him right there!!!"  Me - "Who is he dancing with?"  Torr - "Do you have to ask???"
Torr - "Harv, let's go talk to Kenny, he's right over there.  Hi Ken! how are things?"  Ken -" Couldn't be better.  We won our last game with Two Rivers!  What a blast - It was a pretty wild scene."  Me - "Nice going Ken - you certainly know how to throw a baseball!"  Torr - "You'll have to excuse Harv . . . he's not into sports . . . unless drinking is classified as a sport!"  Me - "Seriously Ken - Nice Job! - we're lucky to have you leading the team!  Hey! there's Lovey Barbier - I'm going to ask her to dance - She says she can watch movies at the Lake Vue Drive In right from her bedroom window.  Cool Huh?"

Me - "Hi Lovey!  wanna dance?"  Lovey - "Sure!  You know I really love these dances in the summer.  Kind of gives us something to do!"  Me - "Me too!"
Me - "So, I understand that with the outdoor theatre right outside your window, you can "go to the movies" anytime you want.  Can you hear the sound?" Lovey - "Sometimes, when the wind is in the right direction, I can hear the sound really well.  Other times I just imagine what's being said.  Kind of works for me."  Me "You must have a great imagination!  Let's go talk to Dick and Karen.  Hi guys!  Are you just about worn out?? You guys have been dancing together all night.  Look, this event is about to wrap up . . . would you two beautiful young ladies like to go to Late's with Dick and I?"  Karen - "I'll have to tell the girls but sure I'd like to go!" Lovey - "Me too - just have to let my group know where I am."  Dick - "Tell them we'll give you guys a ride home!"  Me - "Looks like the last dance of the night!  Let's dance!"
To be continued!

Here's a salute to all those kids who attended PROM this year.  I'm sure the word PROM brings up many memories to all of us.  Well, today it's our grandchildren who are experiencing this exciting event!  It would be nice to share our grandson's / granddaughter's prom pictures.  Have any?
Shall we go to the movies?

It's 1958 - Interesting, for a small town,  there were 3 active Movie theaters in Manitowoc! The Micado, Capital and the Strand.  Most of the first run movies would play at the Capital Theater.  If I remember correctly the tickets were sold in front of the theater at a ticket booth which was part of the building.  I think most theaters back then were built like that.  TheCapital Theater and the Strand were also similarly constructed with tickets sold in front of the Theater.

I Remember buying a ticket at the Capital Theater and walking down a wide hall into the rather large lobby area where you bought popcorn and candy.  Now here's where I'm a bit foggy.  I'm pretty sure that the Capital had a balcony and the Strand did too. I'm not sure about the Micado.  Balconys are a real asset in Movie Theaters.  At least that's my opinion.  I'm sure you remember . . . when you took your girl to the movies, the movie you chose wasinfluenced more by whether the Theater had a balcony than what was playing.  Here's why!
As for selection of movies, our town was on the ball.  There were some totally "first rate" movies released in 1958.  One of the biggies was "South Pacific".  Here's a quick synopsis;

Can a girl from Little Rock find happiness with a mature French planter she got to know one enchanted evening away from the military hospital where she is a nurse? Or should she just wash that man out of her hair? Bloody Mary is the philosopher of the island and it's hard to believe she could be the mother of Liat who has captured the heart of Lt. Joseph Cable USMC. While waiting for action in the war in the South Pacific, sailors and nurses put on a musical comedy show. The war gets closer and the saga of Nellie Forbush and Emile de Becque becomes serious drama.

Was this a good movie??? Well your guess was about as good as mine.  You had to go see the movie to find out.  And that's what the girls did.  I believe this movie was shown first at theCapital.  I remember the girls saying "what a wonderful movie"  "It's so very romantic"  "beautiful music"  "Honey would you take me to see South Pacific?"  Well no guy in his right mind would be caught dead in that movie theatre.  Musicals?  Yuck!  So the girls teamed up and went to see it in groups.  Was it good?  Well, sorry to say this guys, but the girls were right.  Even today, mention South Pacific and people will start singing "Some Enchanted Evening"!
Now, just because we shied away from South Pacific dosn't mean guys "dislike ALL Musicals".  Can guys like musicals???  Well!  I think we can!!!  South Pacific might not be on the top of our list but the "Sophisticated plot, musical paradies, young stars and starlets  captured our hearts and minds in this totally all time great, mind-blowing musical! I'm sure you will all agree.  This movie was EPIC!!!
Of course there was one thing both guys and girls agreed on!  Cartoons!  Foghorn Leghornwas one of my favorites.  Actually the whole Looney Tunes group were on my list of favorites.  Do you remember on Saturdays the "double feature movies" with 10 cartoons???  Those were really great!  Oh yah!  there was the Empire Theatre on the South side of town.  Really, Really cheap seats.  Of course you would occasionaly have to put up with mice in your popcorn . . . but the prices for tickets could not be beat!!!
Other movies released in 1958 "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"  "Gigi" and "Vertigo". I think it's rather unusual that so many "Great Movies" were released in that single year.  Joan & I just watched "Vertigo -Jimmie Stewart" about a week ago. The movie still holds up!!!

Sooooo, what's on the list of "Must See Movies" today?  Well if you have not seen "Frozen"you are missing the movie of the Century!!!  At least that is what your grandkids will tell you.  Released around Thanksgiving last year, it's now available on DVD.  We recently rented it from Netflix.  If you have young grandchildren this would be a movie to watch with them!  Your grandkids probably already know all the songs and will be singing along as they play out on the screen.  Even if you can't watch it with them, they will be impressed that you saw the movie!!
Frozen  Frozen premiered at the El Capitan Theatre on November 19, 2013,  and went into general release on November 27. The film is the highest-grossing animated film of all time and the sixth highest-grossing film of all time, having so far grossed $1.2 billion in worldwide box office revenue, $400 million of which in the United States and Canada.  It was met with strongly positive reviews, and some film critics considered it to be the best Disney animated musical since the studio's renaissance era. The film won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go"), the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film,  the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film,  five Annie Awards (including Best Animated Feature),  and two Critics' Choice Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go")

On Billboard's HOT 100, this song is hanging around Number 24.  Be assured, your grandchildren are familiar with it! Actually pretty good music.  I think it's kind of Katy Perry'ish!  What to you think?  Let's hope it's message is true for all of us!
Fables, legends and urban myths circulate among us every day.  Some are ancient and some are recent.  Given that there are 100's maybe 1000's of these stories going around they all have one thing in common.  They are "very interesting" and "thought provocative".

Brown Mountain Lights?  They've been showing up in North Carolina mountains for over 800 years.  Lots of old ghost stories have cropped up around them.  They've been the study of"National Geographic" and many, amateur photographers and ghost disclaimers.  Try as they may they're still trying to explain what makes the glowing spots in the mountain valley.  Are they reflections of city lights?  Is it some kind of gas coming out of the earth?  Reflections from planes?  All these have been studied to death but still no real answer.  The lights are active even today!
If they wanted to know what was causing the Brown Mountain Lights, they might have checked with us.  We have the answer!

It was the disappearance of a southern trapper.  He, one day, went hunting out in the mountains of North Carolina alone, never to return. His faithful and loyal slave, who loved him very much, set out to look for him. Every night. over a period of 13 years he continued to search,  until the day he died.   They say at night you can still see the old slaves lantern as he continues to search the mountains for his master.
Here's another ledgend that continues to this day.  Is this guy for real? Apparently so, otherwise, why would  so many people be out there trying to prove his existence?

Bigfoot!  has been spotted in various wooded areas all over the world.  Depending on where he is sighted he's called by different names.  Sasquatch, Yeti, Yowie - there are many, many more names for this creature.  You'd think if there are that many sightings around the world that someone would have clear evidence either by capture or killing one.  So far we have no "conclusive" evidence that Bigfoot exists.  So the hunt continues.  News folks continue to report various sightings as they come in.  Each sighting evaluated based on the credentials of those behind the reports.  It's clear that many of these "hunters" are just looking for "fame and fortune" and "lack scientific credibility".  Here is one such report.  Does it seem credible to you?
Now! regarding Bigfoot, here is the most accurate and credible report I have been able to secure.  It may seem unbelievable but who is to say that Bigfoot couldn't really be a nice guy? Just because he stands 7 ft tall and weighs . .  maybe . . 500 pounds, doesn't necessarily mean he is a bad guy.  And, it doesn't mean he is stupid, (like putting butter on both sides of his bread).  And who is to say that Bigfoot, since he is half human, isn't a really . . .  friendly . . .  compassionate guy.
There are thousands of mysteries that circulate throughout our world in endless loops.  Some folks are bent on disclaiming them using scientific evidence while others are inextricably bound to the myth.   Well, which is it??  Real or a Myth??? I guess we don't know.  Lots of questions in LIFE go unanswered, but we move on.  Is that the way it's supposed to be?  Or are we are all just sleepwalking?
