   Please join me in Welcoming

         Barbara (Radandt) Heimann
                                     &
                        Dale Sievert

Barb and Dale, this song welcomes you back. Originally written for a "teacher" named Kotter, now applies to students of LHS class of 60. Classmates and friends, once separated, and now returned. There is no other song that expresses our feelings as well.

We continue with "Travelin Songs"

Joe Barry from Cutoff, Louisiana, a Fats Domino sound alike, released "I'm a fool to care" sometime in 1960. The tune hit #15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and #24 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It sold over one million copies by 1968, earning a gold record  designation.  wiki

Don't remember hearing this song back in 1960.  Joe Barry sounds like Fats Domino don't you think?   The song made an impression on me, so here it is!
We all remember the Kalin Twins Right???  Me neither!  But I do remember the song "When".  You probably do too!

The Kalin Twins (born February 16, 1934) were a pop music recording duo, comprising twin brothers Hal and Herbie Kalin. The Kalin Twins remain the archetypal one-hit wonders. Their only Top 10 chart hit was "When"  wiki
The Fleetwoods!  Big hits . .  "Come Softly to Me" . .  "Mr. Blue" . .  "Tragedy" . . We all know those songs.  Here's one we may have overlooked.  "You Mean Everything To Me".  Released in 1959 it reached number 84 on the US Hot 100 songs.  Seems to me this song should have done better!  What do you think?
Dreamy stuff  . . . .

Till Next Week

Well, Harv, true to form, you have done it again. Your picks for the week are solidly in the '50s rock & roll genre, except for that god-awful tune that you seem to be obsessed with playing whenever possible... you know the one that makes me want to barf every time I hear it. I won't even name it, but you know what I am talking about. For the life of me I can't figure out why, with your otherwise excellent sense of good music, you cling to that thing.

Be that as it may be, I want to welcome our new members, Barb Radandt, who was one of the prettiest girls in our cohort at LHS, Vic Schiegg, who was also very well made for the time, and Dale Sievert, whom I did not know, but knew his cousin Tom (LHS '59), the son of an excellent jazz trombonist 'Sonny' Sievert, who played with Dick Ruedebusch's dixieland band until the mid 1960s, when he died.

So, welcome all you newbies, you are now members of a unique set of old scoundrels from old Manty town, very fond of old cars, booze, mis-remembered half-truths, rock music and pretty little women, as they remember them (their wives, mostly!).

Do remember to comment on Harv's web site presentations. It's the only nourishment his impoverished ego gets! And, we don't want to take him too much for granted, do we... Rock On! Harv, you're doing a great job! Us fans!

Jerry . . . I like that song too! You did a great job welcoming our new members. Perhaps we should elect you our new Ambassador to new members? You up for that? Huh? Huh? Sooo I get the "Old Scoundrels from Manty who like old cars, rock music etc . . . but the booze part is a bit faded. I don't remember that part. Funny huh? Well thank you for the kind words (few that they may be) and Ok! Ok! I'll try harder.

Harv, in the almost immortal words of Pete Christensen to date:
"You are da best!"
