One Hit Wonders 1959 (3)

This week we complete our 1959 one hit wonders series with
Jerry Keller (born Jerry Paul Keller) June 20, 1937, Fort Smith Arkansas, an American pop singer and songwriter.  He is best known for his 1959 million selling record . . . "Here Comes Summer"
Carl Mann (born August 22, 1942, Huntingdon, Tennessee) is an American rockabilly singer and pianist.

Mann released Mona Lisa in 1959.   It was the sixteen-year-old Mann's only hit, peaking No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in that same year.
Thomas Wayne (July 22, 1940, Batesville Mississippi - August 15, 1971, Memphis Tennessee) was an American Singer. He is best remembered as a one hit wonder  for "Tragedy".

The song peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959 selling over one million copies earning gold disc status.  It proved to be his only hit.
"You're so Fine" is the title of a "One hit Wonder" performed by The Falcons.  The song was released as a single in 1959 and reached number seventeen on the Pop Singles Chart.
Hey!!!   Why is it that so many of us age like this guy???  He looks like Colonel Sanders in need of a haircut.  Although, with that car, he can probably still pick up chicks.  They're most likely "Older chicks"  Like in their late 80's.

Till Next Week

Harv, it continues to amaze me that you are able to plumb the depths of 1950s obscurity in popular music to come up with these gems! How do you do it, old Buddy? What is your formula for success?

Harv, "Here Comes Summer" is a good one. I think the best "summer" record of them all. My friend Jim Bartleme wrote a tune called "Summer Love" which was recorded in 1961 and played at Timber Lodge. It was a nice summer record and we played it with our band.

Pete, sorry I missed your 'Peter and the Saints' band's performances in 1961, but I knew Jim Bartleme and remember him as a very ambitious young man with musical talent in Manitowoc. '61-'62 I was in the boonnies at Stevens Point and quite out of touch with things in Manitowoc. Whatever happened to Jim, does anybody know?
