Skiatook Oklahoma. How many times do you hear that town's name in a year. Skiatook was in the national news because of excessive flooding. Why does this concern us? Well, Dick and Terry Burns live in Skiatook. Skiatook's "Bird Creek" surged 30 ft above flood level swamping the surrounding area. Just got a callback from Dick, thankfully Dick and Terry are OK. No flooding at their home. Dick says serious stuff (tornados and heavy rain) still coming their way . . . scary!!! - (As written Wednesday - 5/22)
Skiatook (Skī·ǎ·tōōk or Skī·ǎ·tǒǒk versus Skī·tōōk or Skī·tǒǒk) is a city in Osage and Tulsa counties in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is located in the northeastern part of the state, about twenty miles north and west of Tulsa. The population was 7,397 at the 2010 census, an increase of 37.1 percent from 5,396 at the 2000 census.[3]
