1974
Billboard named "The Way We Were" as the number 1 pop hit of 1974. Instrumental backing was provided by L.A. session musicians from the Wrecking Crew.  The song won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, Grammy Award for Song of the year. In 1998, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and finished at number 8 on AFI's 100 Years . .  100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema in 2004. It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry Association of America and National Endowment for the Arts.  

1979
"Y.M.C.A." is a song by the American disco group Village People.  It was released in 1978 as the only single from their third studio album Cruisin' (1978). The song reached number two on the US charts in early 1979 and reached number one in the UK  around the same time, becoming the group's biggest hit. It is one of fewer than forty singles to have sold 10 million (or more) physical copies worldwide. 
1968
"This Guy's in Love with You" is a song written by Bjurt Bacharach and Hal David, and recorded by Herb Alpert.  Although known primarily for his trumpet playing as the leader of the Tijuana Brass,  Alpert sang lead vocals on this solo recording, arranged by Bacharach. The song reached #7 on Billboard Hot 100 in 1968
1983
"Every Breath You Take" is a song by English rock band The Police on the band's 1983 album Synchronicity.  Written by Sting,  the single was the biggest hit of 1983, topping the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for eight weeks (the band's only number-one hit on that chart), and the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. It also topped the Billboard Top Tracks chart for nine weeks.
