1969
"Everyday People" is a 1968 song by Sly and the Family Stone.  It was the first single by the band to go to number one on the Soul singles chart and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.  It held that position, on the  Hot 100, for four weeks from February 15, 1969, until March 14, 1969, and is remembered as a popular song of the 1960s. Billboard ranked it as the No. 5 song of 1969.

1970
"Bridge over Troubled Water" became Simon & Garfunkel's biggest hit single,  and it is often considered their signature song.  It was a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100  for six weeks, and it also topped the charts in the United Kingdom, Canada, France and New Zealand.  It was a top five hit in eight other countries as well, eventually selling over six million copies worldwide, making it among the best-selling singles.   It became one of the most performed songs of the twentieth century, with over 50 artists, among them Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin,   covering the song. It was ranked number 48 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
1977
"Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" is a song by Rod Stewart,  recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama for his 1976 album A Night on the Town.  The song became his second US chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100,  peaked at #5 in UK, #3 in Australia and charted well in other parts of the world as well. It was the number 1 song in Billboard's 1977 year-end chart. 
1971
"Joy to the World" , has been described by members of Three Dog Night as a "kid's song" and a "silly song",  topped the main singles charts in North America, was certified gold by the RIAA,  and has since been covered by multiple artists.

A question was raised in Sunday School by a teacher who asked, "Who was Jeremiah"?  A young, enthusiastic little guy sitting in the back raised his hand and said, "why teacher, everyone knows that one . . . Jeremiah was a bullfrog!!"
