Happy 12th Anniversary to The Coachmen's Turntable!

In January 2013 The Coachmen Club was reunited by Sharon Magnusson to help Bill Ohde in his time of need. After meeing with Bill for breakfast we decided that more was needed to help him out.

The original concept was simple:
We loaded an iPod with nearly 1,000 classic oldies for Bill. Each week, we would send an email  to our club members with commentary and a couple of 50s songs from his playlist, We were all instructed to listen to the songs each Monday so we could make comments to Bill through emails and "Listen with Bill"  The series was a great source of joy and truly lifted his spirits until Bill passed away.

Many of our members may not realize that "The Turntable" was created to continue the spirit of that earlier series,

When it was announced the series would end, the club asked if there was a way to keep the music going. I promised I would  try to create something new, and from that, "The Coachmen's Turntable" was born.

To celebrate this anniversary, the very first "Turntable" release is re-posted below. Check it out and take a trip down memory lane!

       OPENING THIS WEEK!
"The Coachmen's Turntable"

Sept 23,2013
"Either you guys are early or I'm late  . . . .   I prefer to think you guys are early!!! "

"As you can see I'm here at Torr's garage.  Remember? . . . kind of a mint green with white trim?  The garage door is open and I'm trying like heck to pull the pin on the turntable.  At first I thought it was stuck but I can see that somebody welded it in there!!  I'm going to need tools . . so while I'm working why don't you all listen to a tune . . . . "Old Time Rock & Roll" . . .  Feel free to dance in your underwear!!!  I won't look."

"Back already? . . .  Man! . . . this is a lot of work!!!  As you can see I've got my tools and I've been able to remove one pin. Now I'm going after the second.  You know,  you guys really aren't much help . . . all standing around with your hands in your pockets.  Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter . . this takes skill . . . seems to me that getting a hood open took all the skill our club could muster.  So, while I work, why don't you think about what you were doing when this song became a hit in 1959.
See ya on the other side."

"OK both pins out . . . .  now where is the handle that fits in the turntable.  Hey Torr!!! where's the handle???  Gee it looks like I'm going to have to do everything myself!!!  Alright, while I find the handle,  here's another tune out of 1959.
Be right back."

"Well . . .  will you look at that!  The handle is in,  a little WD40 and that turntable is spinning like a top!  We'll be using this platter . .  Ahhh . . "Turntable" to spin tunes, stories or whatever comes to mind.  Well, that about wraps it up for now."

"Hey Torr, my hands are dirty.  Is there a sink is this place? . . . did anyone think to bring beer???"

"See ya next week"

Harv
