The iconic song "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" was written by the legendary songwriting duo Gerry Goffin and Carole King, with input from Atlantic Records producer Jerry Wexler. Here are a few key facts about its history: The Inspiration: Jerry Wexler reportedly came up with the title after passing Carole King on the street in New York City and shouting that he wanted a "natural woman" song for Aretha Franklin. The Original Hit: It was first recorded by Aretha Franklin in 1967 and became one of her signature songs. The Writer’s Version: Carole King later recorded her own version for her landmark 1971 album, Tapestry.
