Hi everyone! This is going to be a quick, abbreviated release—mostly because I’m currently staring at an open suitcase! Why is it that after six months of planning, the last day still turns into a mad dash? I’m sure the rest of you have been packed and ready for days... right? 😉 See you all soon!

We plan to have a short meeting during our lunch to discuss the trip details.  We will also hand out our tour books and commemorative pins.  If you have questions, please write them down, and we'll do our best to answer them.

Our adventure starts as a rally at the Courthouse PUB.  Our plan is to have lunch and discuss the details of our trip.  Check-in time at Stone Harbor is 3:00pm.  A group dinner (limited menu) has been arranged for 6:00PM in the "Sturgeon Bay Room"

Howdy Folks! As you can see, our long-awaited trip to the Door Peninsula is almost here! I am incredibly excited, and I hope you are too.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on a special project. I wanted to put together a more meaningful song list for the Turntable—one that beautifully reflects our shared journey and this wonderful stage of life. Today, I’ve selected classic songs from our past that have been recast into a more thoughtful, "reflective" persona.

​The United States celebrated its Semiquincentennial—the historic 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 on this 4th of July!

Here are the most significant elements that set this year's Fourth of July apart:

The "Salute to America 250" in Washington, D.C.:
The National Mall hosted the centerpiece of the national celebration, capped by what is recorded as the largest fireworks display in U.S. history. The display launched roughly 850,000 shells from ten different sites across the capital, including the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and barges along the Potomac River. Historic "Firsts" and Unique Spectacles

The Times Square Ball Drop: 
In an unprecedented move, New York City held a daytime countdown and "ball drop" in Times Square at exactly 2:00 PM ET on July 4th—marking the approximate historical moment the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted. It is the first time the iconic ball has ever dropped outside of a New Year's Eve celebration.

Sail 250 and the International Fleet Review:
A massive fleet of over 60 historic tall ships and modern warships from 30 allied nations descended upon the East Coast, creating the largest maritime gathering in U.S. history.

​ A 250-Year Time Capsule:
In Philadelphia, at Independence Mall, an official national time capsule was sealed and buried. It is explicitly scheduled to remain underground for the next 250 years, to be unearthed by future generations on July 4, 2276.
